Preston Ford

Preston Billie Ford, 104, formerly of Beeville, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. Mr. Ford was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Gustine to John William and Elsie Albin Ford. He graduated from high school and married Jenelle Miller in Beeville on Oct. 7, 1938. He was a retired construction contractor and an active member of Gideon Ministries. He resided in Fresno, Calif., Houston, Dallas, Beeville and, most recently, Jourdanton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jenelle; and a daughter, Clara Ford Harris. Survivors include three grandchildren, Jim Harris, Laura Harris Shaw and Richard Stroman Harris; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 two great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Dorothy Summerton of Seaside, Calif. Visitation was held from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted there at 10 a.m. following visitation with Rev. Bevans Welder officiating. Musical selections were provided by Dan Reagan. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Butler, Teddy Byrd Jr., Robert Garcia Jr., Dale Patterson, Tucker Rackley and Randy Ricks. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Young, John Gidcumb and Beeville Gideons Camp members. Memorial donations may be made to Gideon Ministries, P.O. Box 88, Beeville, TX 78104.
