Raymond Vincent Raehn, 92, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2016. He was born on February 9, 1924, to Raymond and Francis (Shean) Raehn in Bellview, Pennsylvannia, a suburb of Pittsburg. He was proud to earn the Eagle and Sea Scout awards in his youth. He held an M.A. degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University and a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College. He enlisted in the Navy at the start of World War II. He flew Navy fighter planes during World War II and became the Commander of a fighter squadron. After serving on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operation, he retired to head a real estate development company. In 1981, he founded the United States Global Strategy Council and served as its president as an advocate of a comprehensive U.S. National Security Strategy which became law in 1986. He and his wife, Mabel (May) Welty Raehn from Robstown, Texas of 67 years, retired to Padre Island and then bought a ranch they named Ramay Ranch in George West, Texas to raise cattle, flowers and a small citrus orchard. His survivors include his wife, May L. Raehn; his three children, Susan Boslough, Raymond Paul Raehn and Carol Raehn; his grandchildren, Zachary Connelly, Eric Raehn, Danielle Williams, Ariel Raehn, Kyla Raehn and Sophie Boslough; his great grandchildren, Lita Bennett-Williams, Zayden Connelly and Kairi Williams. Memorial gathering will be held at their home at a later date.
