R.F. (Ray) Cook

R.F. (Ray) Cook, 84, of Comfort, Texas, passed away February 9, 2023, in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Mr. Cook was born June 17, 1938, in Houston to Floyd and Merle (Taylor) Cook. He married his sweetheart, Carrie Woods, in San Antonio on October 1, 1955. As a skilled auto mechanic, he went on to learn the trade of becoming an accomplished heavy equipment mechanic as well. He enjoyed spending time with family and watching his deer, sheep, wildlife and birds.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Merle Cook; his wife, Carrie (Woods) Cook; a son, Orbie Cook; and three siblings.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include his daughter, Karen Stensgaard of Kerrville; son, Ray G. Cook of New Braunfels; granddaughter, Jackie Sims of Comfort and spouses; two brothers, Robert Lee Cook of Sanger and Jimmie Cook of Comfort; a sister, Marjorie Coslett of Corsicana; and a brother in-law, Wayne Woods of Houston.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, in the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Stensgaard, Ray G. Cook, Robert Sims, Joe Biermann, Jody Sims and Tom Taylor.
