DIRKS Robert L. Dirks, 80, passed away on October 1, 2010. He was born to Lee W. and Barbara May Rapp Dirks on December 27, 1929 in Beeville, Texas. He was a graduate of Southwest Texas State Teachers College and served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Billie June Martin on October 11, 1952 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. Robert had a private accounting firm from 1954-1967, was president of First National Bank in George West from 1967-1980, was apart of the group who purchased and ran the Charlotte State Bank from 1990-1996, worked for the Appraisal District from 1996 till his retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Dirks of Wimberley, Texas; son, Paul Dirks and wife Kathryn Linney Dirks of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Lynlie Marie Wallace , Abigail Wallace , Jackson Wallace, III , Kristen Acock, Grace Kathryn Dirks, and brother, R.W. "Bill" Dirks of Tuleta, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Billie Dirks, three brothers, John Marion, James Leland, and Donald Frank Dirks, and sister, Rachel Jean Dirks. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Beeville, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Beeville, Texas. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jackson Wallace, III, Harvey Hardwick, Dick McGee, Bobby Jacob, Mark Bledsoe, Lee Dirks, Jimmy Strause, and Donnie Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hardwick, Henry Hardwick, Blackstone Dilworth, Richard Dirks, Endercio Chapa, Jr., Raul Garcia, and Leo Casas, III.
