Robert Gonzales Pena, 60, passed away at his home in George West, Texas on December 7, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with colon cancer. He was lovingly surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on September 11, 1964, in Beeville, Texas to Reynaldo “Ray” Pena and Elida (Gonzales) Pena. He was a graduate of George West High School. Robert was devoted to his family; he especially enjoyed spending time with all his nieces and nephews. He always tried to be present in the moment with the family. Robert was a big fan of the Texas burnt orange team, The Texas Longhorns. He embodied the enthusiastic spirit of a true Texas Longhorn fan. Robert was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan. He would often endure the tremendous pain he was in to just sit and watch his Dallas Cowboys play. Not only was football a big part of Robert’s life, but music was also a vital part of his life too. He found joy in listening to the music from Slipknot and Five Finger Death Punch. The sound of their music brought him much comfort and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elida G. Pena and his mom, Elda T. Gonzales, and a sister, Stella Pena.
Robert is fondly remembered by his father, Reynaldo R. Pena of George West; four brothers, Oscar Pena (Angela Pena), Richard Pena (Jan Pena), Ruben Pena and Simon Pena Jr.; and his sister, Sandra Pena-Hernandez (Frank Hernandez). Also missing their uncle are his precious nieces, Jen, Alyssa, Stormi and Sidney, and his loving nephews, Nick, Nash, Anthony, Drew, Ayden, Zac and Holdin.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society in the fight against colon cancer.
