Rodney C. Pfouts, 71, of George West, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Christus Spohn Hospital, Beeville.
Rodney was born January 21, 1953, in Springville, New York, to Robert Charles Pfouts and Elizabeth Theresa (Bond) Pfouts. A proud graduate of West Valley Central High School in 1972, Rodney served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1973 to 1977 as sergeant crew chief mechanic. He returned to civilian life with the same dedication he exhibited during his military service, applying his skills as a groundwater treatment operator for 16 years with the City of George West. He was a dedicated member of the Smithville, Texas Vietnam Honor Guard.
Rodney’s role as a grandfather was one of his most treasured, as he loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also had a passion for music and enjoyed playing his guitars, which served as an outlet for his creativity and a source of happiness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Pfouts.
A cherished father, he is survived by his daughter, Loreal Pfouts; a son, Ryan (Amanda) Pfouts; a granddaughter, Riley Lee; four grandsons, Jase Lee, Kaiden Adkins and Brently and Weston Pfouts; a sister, Melody Appelt; three brothers, Rick Pfouts, Barry Pfouts and Robert Pfouts and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, December 21, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Family, friends and community members are warmly invited to come together to remember and celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose love for his family and passion for life will always be remembered.
