Sally Amthor

Sally (Christ) Amthor, 80, a longtime resident of Beeville, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013. Mrs. Amthor was born April 28, 1933, in Ganado to C.W. and Sallie Batey Christ. She married Vern Lee Amthor in Ganado on Jan. 5, 1952, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Beeville Garden Club, Wesleyan Study Group and Home Life Club. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 28, 2010. Survivors include three sons, Richard (Cecilia) Amthor of Beeville, John David (Marilyn) Amthor of George West and Steven (Sonia) Amthor of Flour Bluff; a sister, Jo Anna West of San Angelo; and four grandchildren, John Richard, Caitlynn, Rhyanne and Thomas. Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial followed on Monday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at Beeville Memorial Park.
