Salura Nan Owings Arnold of Pawnee, Texas passed away on November 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 10, 1943 in Freer, Texas to Walter and Ruth Owings. She grew up in Beeville, Texas and graduated from A.C. Jones High school. She went on to graduate from Texas A&I University in Kingsville with a degree in Elementary Education.
She loved working with children, and was an elementary school teacher for 30 years in Pawnee and Orange Grove. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Beeville, and spent many hours volunteering her time with children and other ministries. She cherished family time, especially time spent with her 5 grandchildren.
Salura is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruth Owings, and brother Jimmy Owings.
She is survived by her college sweetheart and husband of 53 years, Doug Arnold; their daughter LeNan (Arnold) Francis and husband Dustin of College Station; son Brett and wife Stephanie of San Antonio; and 5 grandchildren: Peyton and Reagan Francis and Gregory, Caroline and Grant Arnold.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Beeville on Tuesday, December 4, at 2 p.m. followed by burial at the Pawnee Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Head, Steve Bonnette, Mark Sugarek, Doug Culli, Bob Cox, Bill Bray, Peyton Francis, Gregory Arnold, Tom Curlee, Ed McKay and Jackie Arnold.
