Sandra (Alvarado) Romero

Sandra (Alvarado) Romero, affectionately known as “Twigg,” passed away on October 25, 2024, in George West, Texas, at the age of 68.

Sandra was born December 8, 1955, in Three Rivers, to Joe Alvarado and Irene (Bueno) Alvarado. A proud 1974 graduate of Three Rivers High School, Sandra was well-loved and remembered fondly by her peers. She dedicated 25 years of service as manager with Shamrock. Her kindness and warm spirit made her a cherished friend to many throughout her life. It was during these early years that she earned her beloved nickname from her dearest high school classmates. Her biggest joy in life was being the proudest and most loving Three Rivers Bulldogs fan attending every football game. She loved her Bulldogs.

Twigg had a deep passion for cooking, particularly during the holidays when she would delight her family and friends with an impressive assortment of pies and desserts that showcased her culinary talent and love for sharing joy through food.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Alvarado; grandparents, Jose and Porfiria Garcia; and a brother, Fidencio Bueno, Jr.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include her husband of 46 years, Gerardo Romero of Three Rivers; mother, Irene Bueno of San Antonio; sisters, Linda Jean (Claudio) Cantu, Susan Bueno, Mary (Mario) Ramirez, Elena Alvarado and Patsy Alvarado; brothers, Henry (Mary) Bueno, Joe Alvarado Jr. and Vincent Alvarado; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 28, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lonnie Anzaldua, Christopher Martinez, Richard Tanguma, Martin Tanguma Jr., Robert Martinez and Freddie Cadena.
