Shirley Louise Riley Kibler, 82, passed away on July 21, 2013. She was born April 16, 1931, in Greenville, TX, to George Taylor and Dorthea (Williams) Riley. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1948 and received an Art M.S. degree from Texas A&M University in Commerce, TX. She married Alex W. Kibler on July 10, 1952, in Greenville, TX. In 1956, the Kiblers moved to Beeville where Shirley taught school for B.I.S.D. and F.M.C. for 15 years and served as president for B.I.S.D. Teachers Association. The remainder of her career was at Bee County College Art Department teaching visual art and art history. She retired from teaching in 1986. Her favorite painting medium was porcelain. She coordinated porcelain workshops for Dr. Joe Barnhart's Foundation from 1978 to current date. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Hi-Lights Porcelain Art Club, State Federated PAC of Texas and served in many state offices of the federation. She has been a member of First United Methodist Church since 1956 and served on various committees. She was a member of the Beeville Art Association, and served as president numerous times. She was a docent for the Berclair Mansion and the Beeville Art Museum and truly loved leading tours of the mansion and telling about its history and legacy. She enjoyed cooking and baking especially pastries and was famous for her recipes for Italian Cream Cake and numerous cheese cakes. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alex W. Kibler of Beeville; sister, Doris R. Smith of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Dr. Perry (Lori) Smith, Kay (Allen) Moore, Susie (Todd) Erickson, George (Jackie) Smith, Warner (Becky) Reeder, Lynn (Rozlan) Reeder and Louise Reeder. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Beeville with Rev. Bevans Welder and Rev. Larry McRorey officiating. Interment will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Rose Mound Cemetery in Commerce, TX. Pallbearers will be Ed Wicker, Fred Jennings, Mark Parsons, George Morrill, II, Marion Williams, Bobby Blackburn, Tom Partlow and John Breidenbach. Honorary pallbearers will be Ottis Fuller, Robert Fish, Charles Robertson, Fort McMeans, Tom Stark, Roger Fullington, Colton Brinkoeter and the First National Bank Directors. Those who wish may make donations to charity of your choice or First United Methodist Church.
