S.T. "Tige" Brown Jr., 90, of George West, died Saturday, March 23, 2013. Mr. Brown was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Pearsall, to Lillian (Matson) and S.T. Brown Sr. He attended Pearsall High School and Texas A&I-Kingsville. He served with the U.S. Marines in World War II and married Charleen Reagan in Raymondville on Aug. 23, 1947. He was retired superintendent of George West ISD and a member First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Lions Club and held many positions in city and civic organizations in Live Oak County. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alnson W. Brown; and a sister, Katherine Elizabeth Curtis. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Charleen Brown of George West; three children, Turner Pryor (Amanda) Brown of Kingsville, Kathy (Paul) Pearce of Celina and Richard Reagan (Deborah) Brown of George West; seven grandchildren, Zachary Pearce, Rachel Pearce, Jordan Pearce, Benjamin Pearce, Brandi McClendon, Brittany Harrod and Kerra Grace Brown; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel in George West. The funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, at First United Methodist Church in George West with Rev. Emit Huntsman and Rev. Doug Hinchcliff officiating. Burial followed in Oakville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lino Lopez, John Ed Holland, James Pawlik, Larry Holmes, Rip Wallace, Laymond Bennett, Bob Sneider and Chuck Sehlke. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge #1129 of George West and Robert Brysch. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 501 Crockett St., George West.
