Steven Lee Ferguson

Steven Lee Ferguson, 79, of George West, TX, passed away on July 2, 2023.  

Steven was born May 6, 1944, in Muncie, Indiana, to William Lee Ferguson and Elizabeth (Sutton) Ferguson.

Steven proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years before retiring in 1982, earning numerous medals including the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) among others. 

Beyond his military career, he enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and playing military strategy games on his iPad. One of his most endearing qualities was his unwavering love for animals, particularly cats. He never let a stray go hungry.

Steven is predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth Ferguson; his loving wife, Gabriele, who passed away on May 2, 2023; and his eldest daughter, Karoline, who passed away on July 24, 2007.

He is survived by his five siblings, Sherry White (Gary), Mike Ferguson (Sue), Billy Caldwell (Marcia), Rebecca Scott (Ray), Sue Yergler (Kim); his three daughters, Maria Duncan (Tex), Brenda Koskey and Sherry Halingstad; as well as seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

A cherished husband, father and Opa, Steven is deeply loved by his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
