Wanda Sue (Watson) Phillips, 84, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Hacienda Oaks Nursing Home in Beeville, Texas.

Sue was born November 23, 1929 in Breckenridge, Texas to John and Verna Mae (Winnegar) Watson. She married Aldie "Al" Phillips on February 15, 1948. They were married for 66 years.

Sue worked as a telephone operator and in telephone sales for Southwestern Bell. She retired in 1983 after 30 plus years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, served as a church library volunteer, and was a food contributor for the bereaved. She will be remembered for her friendliness, infectious smile and laughter, love of cooking, sewing, remembering family birthdays down to the great grandchildren, bringing family together through hospitality, and as a loving, faithful, dedicated wife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Eugene Watson, and sister, Carrietta McGown.

She is survived by her husband, Aldie Phillips of Beeville; four daughters, Sandra (Walter) Wright, Serelda (Walton) Johnson, Pam (Johnny) Capps, and Cindy (Larry) Lopez; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Margey Watson; 12 grandchildren, Walter A. (Kristy) Wright, Brett (Kristi) Wright, Dana (Doug) Hixson, R.W. (Tricia) Johnson, Heather (Jonathan) Caruso, Phillip (Rebecca) Johnson, Addie (Alan) Patterson, Shad (Mardi) Lopez, Fernando (Roberta) Lopez, Andrew Lopez, Casey Lopez, and John Lopez; and 24 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home in Beeville on Tuesday, April 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Homer Hanna officiating.

Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hacienda Oaks Nursing Home, to Exclusive Home Health & Hospice, many home caregivers, and medical care provided by Dr. Joseph Larakers and Dr. Mike Dunn.
