Suzanna Pruett

Suzanna Dukes Pruett, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011. She was born Feb. 28, 1920, to Thomas W. Brown Sr. and Maggie Ola (Dukes) Brown in Sipes Spring. She married Leo Houston Pruett Sr. on June 25, 1936, in Lockhart. She was a resident of Hacienda Oaks Nursing in Beeville and a member of First Baptist Church Tuleta. She retired as federal employee with the Department of Defense, NAS Chase Field. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, her parents and two brothers. Survivors include a son, Leo (Sandra) Pruett Jr. of Beeville; a daughter, Patricia (Frank) Wood of Goliad, four grandchildren, Houston Pruett III of Victoria, Leann Pruett Carabajal of Beeville, Tommie Sue Wood Atkinson of Victoria and Benjamin Wood of Goliad; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted there at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, with the Rev. Jay Fleming officiating.
