Normanna, Texas Sydonie Nolen Brundrett went to be with her Lord on July 14, 2013. She was 91 years old. She was born to Willie and Antonette Storch on June 17, 1922 at Round Top, Texas. At age 11 years her family moved to Three Rivers, Texas. In 1942 she married E.L. (Pete) Nolen. After he passed away she married John William (J.W.) Brundrett in 1963. They were married over 47 ½ years. He passed away on May 17, 2010. Her parents, brother, and daughter, Linda Jo Alford preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Ethyel Jo (George) Eilers of Kenedy, Texas, Lealand (Jeanette) Nolen of Rosenberg, Texas, Lawrence Freddy (Judy) Nolen of Pettus, Texas and Annette Riley of Dickinson, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren and was proud of them. She loved little children and old people and loved to hear their stories of long ago. She believed you could learn from old folks and young people. She loved all kinds of crafts and made many pretty things. She gave a lot of things to the nursing home where she volunteered 14 ½ years, now Hacienda Oaks. She loved to sing with her church group and read poems in church or get-togethers. She was a member of the Normanna Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for many years when the South Texas Children's Home came to the Mineral Baptist Church in its early years which she cherished. She had great memories of Brother Lunsford as her pastor. She was a member of the Normanna Auxiliary Fire Department for 28 years, and the Ladies Tuleta and Normanna Hobby Club. She loved flowers but loved silk flowers too. Those who wish may make donations to Church Building Fund -Normanna, Texas, South Texas Children's Home, Normanna Volunteer Fire Department, South Texas Men's Disaster Fund or fund of their choice. Visitation will be held from 12 - 2 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bryan Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Mineral Cemetery.
