Sylvia (Rodriguez) Torres, 61, of Beeville, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013. Mrs. Torres was born Jan. 26, 1952, in Goliad to Domingo and Juanita (Salinas) Rodriguez. She married Quirino Torres on Dec. 1, 1979, and was the primary owner of Needful Things Resale Shop and ran a successful family-owned construction business. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Domingo and Juanita Rodriguez; a grandson, Aaron Maturey; three sisters, Josie Garza, Felicita Rojas and Dolores Rodriguez; and two brothers, Juan and Ernesto Rodriguez. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Quirino Torres; children, John A. (Erma) Maturey, Domingo (Yvette) Maturey, Chriselda (Randy) Maturey and Marcos (Megan) Maturey, Norman (Jennifer) Garcia, Quirino Torres Jr. and Jessica A. Maturey; 28 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four sisters, Dominga DeLosSantos, Sandy (Herb) Ramzinsky, Margaret Rodriguez and Norma Flores; two brothers, Domingo (Amy) Rodriguez and Hector (Shana) Rodriguez; and two sisters-in-law, Pam and Irma Rodriguez. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. Services will conclude at the church. Pallbearers will be Jarvis Ochoa, Michael Jones, Chris D. Jones, Manuel Lopez and John A. Maturey II.
