Theodore "Ted" Garcia Jr., 86, of Beeville, Texas, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018.
Ted was born April 24, 1932 in Beeville, Texas to Theodore Garcia, Sr. and Juanita Wilson Garcia, nee Lozano.
Ted was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After honorable discharge, he went to work in Civil Service at NAS Chase Field as Crash Crew Fireman from which he retired after 20 years.
He was well known in Beeville for his involvement with Little League and friendly interaction with folks anywhere he went.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was an avid sports fan attending all local Trojan games. He enjoyed fishing and had many hobbies and interests. He was a loving and devoted father, husband and son to his parents, as well as a model citizen. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, MSF "Rey" Brother Theodore Garcia in 1995 and Arthur Garcia in 2013.
Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Shirley Hobbs Garcia of Beeville; his son, Gentry "Gene" Garcia of Beeville; two daughters, Angela Garcia Kowalik of Florida and Janet K. Westlund of San Antonio; two grandsons, Jonathan Westlund of Austin and Julian Westlund of Beeville; one sister, Anne Modde of San Antonio; two brothers, Joe Garcia of California and Richard Garcia of Beeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited there at 7 o'clock that evening.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating.
Full military honors will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be members of the St. Joseph Knights of Columbus.
