Thomas Hubert

Thomas Floyd (Booger) Hubert, DVM passed away March 26, 2013 in George West, Texas. Booger was born to Vernie and Blanche (Sullivan) Hubert in Riviera, Texas and grew up in the community of Vattmann. He went to Texas A & M University to study veterinary medicine. While there, Booger played on the Texas A & M 1955 Conference Championship baseball team. Booger married Dee Ann Durham of Kingsville, Texas in 1957. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1958 and returned to South Texas and settled in Live Oak County where he raised his family, practiced veterinary medicine in Three Rivers, George West and in Alice at the Alamosa Animal Hospital. He also farmed, and ranched for over 55 years. Booger was very active in the community. He was a member of the Catholic Church and served as a Bank Director of the First National Bank of George West, Texas and a member of the school board of the George West Independent School District. Baseball was a big part of Booger's life and he worked with the Flax League and Junior and Senior Babe Ruth baseball leagues. Booger is survived by his wife, Dee Ann Durham Hubert and four sons and daughter-in-laws: Tim Hubert (Cindy DeBerry Hubert), Jeff Hubert (Cheryl Whitley Hubert), Chris Hubert (Maggi Smith Hubert), and Doug Hubert (Leann Polasek Hubert); nine grandchildren: Amanda Hubert Smith DVM and husband Whitlow Smith, Rachel Hubert, Claire Hubert, Kaye Hubert, Paige Hubert, Kyle Hubert, Ryan Hubert, Jacob Hubert, and Sean Thomas Hubert; and one great grandson: Reid Thomas Smith; sister George Anne Hubert Muckleroy, sister-in-law Goldia Hubert; brother-in-law Guy Wallace; brother-in-law William K. Durham and wife Penny Mathers Durham and numerous nieces and nephews. Booger is preceded in death by his father and mother, Vernie and Blanche Sullivan Hubert, brother Patrick L. Hubert DVM, sister Teddy Marie Hubert Wallace, brother-in-law Merle Muckleroy, and nephew Mark Muckleroy. Visitation will be held 6:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday, March 31, 2013 at St. George Catholic Church in George West, Texas with a rosary following that evening at 7:00pm recited by Shayne Katzfey. Funeral Mass will be 9:30am Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. George Catholic Church in George West, Texas with Monsignor Jim Harris, celebrate. Interment will follow for a 1:00pm graveside at Our Lady of Consolation Cemetery in Vattmann, Texas. Pallbearers include, Kyle Hubert, Ryan Hubert, Dean Phillips, Poncho Hubert, D.V.M., Tim Robins, M.D., Peter Pena, John Wallace, Orlando Diaz, Joe Frank Bartlett and Charles Bednorz; Honorary pallbearers include, Lynn Bluhm, D.V.M., Clay Brieger, D.V.M., Bill Durham, Kendall Durham, John DeWitt, Joe Pater, Bill Phillips, Jerry Robins, Bobby Schneider, Bill Singer, Wayne Tyrone, Guy Wallace, Mike Whitley, Sonny Whitley, Charlie Wilson, Buggs Wood and all former Babe Ruth Baseball Players.
