Thomas Stark

Thomas Lytton Stark, 88, of Beeville passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Tom Stark was born December 11, 1927, in Dallas, Texas to Thomas Vernon and Nell (Power) Stark. Tom graduated from High School in 1944 from Douglas, Arizona. He graduated from North Texas State College. He received his Medical Degree in 1956 from the University of Texas Medical School Galveston. He then completed his internship at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. In 1957 he joined the Navy. He served on the USNS Sultan in the Pacific and the Naval Dispensary in Mare Island, California. After the service he moved to Sinton, Texas where he practiced family medicine. He then went to Surgery Residency at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. In 1961 he made the move to Beeville, Texas where he practiced with Doctors McNeill, Lancaster and Miller. He served on the committee for the new Beeville Hospital and was instrumental in the furnishing of the surgical wing. He served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at the Beeville Hospital. He was on the committee for the location of the Beeville Municipal Airport. He served as President of the Board for Beeville Independent School District. He served as the Trojans team Doctor. Dr. Stark closed his private practice in 1992. He then served in the Medical Department at the McConnell Unit in Beeville, Texas. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beeville. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Daniel Thomas Stark and James Howard Stark. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Stark of Beeville, Texas; one son, Dr. David (Ruth) Stark of Abilene, Texas; three grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Wray of Lakewood, Colorado, Matthew (Kristen) Stark of Abilene, Texas and Katelyn Stark of Austin, Texas; one brother, James Howard Stark of Florida; and his first wife, Ann Stark Kimbrough of Beeville, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October, 7, 2016 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ernie Ramon, Glen Ford, Justin McCord, Matthew Stark, Dr. Allan Pinchback, and Wes Hilliard. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Kibler, John West, Dr. Sam Hogue, Dr. Frank Dehnisch, Dr. Rodney Schorlemmer, and Dr. Joseph Larakers.
