Tomasita Montemayor

Tomasita (Franco) Montemayor, 84, of Beeville, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012. Mrs. Montemayor was born July 5, 1927, in Karnes City to Estefana Longoria and Pablo Franco. She married Meliton Montemayor in Beeville and loved music. In 1997, she worked at the public library and the Beeville Police Department and as a custodian at Beeville Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Woodmen of the World and the Guadalupanas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include two sons, Meliton (Ramona) Montemayor Jr. of Ennis and Santos (Rachel) Montemayor of Friendswood; a daughter, Janie Montemayor of Austin; two brothers, Alonso Franco of St. Paul and Pablo (Eva) Franco Jr. of Corpus Christi; 10 grandchildren, Sammy Montemayor, Meliton Montemayor III, Leticia Montemayor, Adrian Garza, Christopher Garza, Jonathan Garza, Amy Joy Garza, Cynthia Anne Montemayor Allen, Bryan Montemayor and Tiffiny Montemayor; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. A prayer service was held there Wednesday evening, Jan. 4, at 7 o'clock. The funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at New Hope Christian Church with Rev. Salvador Rincon officiating. Burial followed in San Pedro Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bryan Montemayor, Sammy Montemayor, Mele Montemayor Jr., Adrian Garza, Christopher Garza and Jonathan Garza. Honorary pallbearer was James Pastrano.
