Verna Rose Hilliard

Verna Rose Hilliard,77, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024 in her home in Beeville, Texas.

Verna was born in Berclair, Texas on December 1, 1946, to Adolph Windberg and Emelia (Reitz) Windberg. She worked at Elder’s Country Store and Market with dedication and passion throughout her career. Her commitment to her work was admired by all who knew her.

Outside of work, Verna enjoyed playing bingo, finding joy and camaraderie in the game. Her enthusiasm for bingo was contagious, making each game a memorable experience for those around her. She also loved to watch sports and was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs.

Verna is now reunited with her loved ones who passed before her including her parents, Adolph and Emelia Windberg; twin sister, Alice Guill; and sister, Dorothy Curtner.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Joe Cleveland (Jennifer Roxanne Gonzales) Hillard; sisters, Janette Elder and Joyce Jones; grandchildren, Tiffany Moron and Jacob Chavarria; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home followed by burial at Beeville Memorial Park.
