Virginia (Garza) Borjas, 76, of Beeville, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Borjas was born June 16, 1941, to Teclo and Virginia (Vasquez) Garza in Beeville. She married Guadalupe Borjas on June 10, 1972, in Beeville and was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church where she was actively involved in church organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, Luis Garza, Teclo Garza Jr. and Herminia Garza Salinas.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela B. (Frank) Cuevas Jr. of Beeville; three grandchildren, John Roland Castaneda, Hayley May Cuevas and Joshua Raymond Cuevas; her companion, Manuel Acosta; nine sisters, Dolores Espinosa, Olga Castaneda, Alicia Perez, Rosanna Madrigal, Josie Segovia, Jovita Villanueva, Elsa Villanueva, Maria Alaniz and Annie Cumpian; three brothers, Adan Villanueva, Adolfo Garza and Harold Garza; her stepmother, Lucia Garza; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Frank Medina Jr., Ruben Perez Jr., Porfirio Espinosa, Adolfo Garza, Harold Garza, Nick Espinosa, Joseph Bernal and Jose Ponce.
Honorary pallbearers were Frank Cuevas Jr., John Roland Castaneda Jr., Hayley May Cuevas, Francisco "Spanking" Medina, Gracie Garza Medina, Ruben Garza Perez Jr. and Joshua Raymond Cuevas.
