Virginia Hester

Virginia Fay Hester, 93, passed away on April 14, 2016. She was born on December 19, 1922, in Whitsett, Texas, to John White and Virginia (Casey) White. She was raised and attended school in Calliham and Three Rivers, Texas. She graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1939. She met and married William Haskell (Hank) Hester in 1941 in San Antonio, Texas, where he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Haskell (Hank) Hester; her son, Haskell Lloyd (Peanut) Hester; her father, John White; and mother, Virginia Casey Gohlke. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jesse Lloyd White; step-mother, Lorraine Harris White; two step-sisters, Louise Shoemate and Nora Murray; half-brothers, J.L. White and Earl Ray White; and a half-sister, Lorraine White Inscore. Fay Hester is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Gordon) Benham; grandsons, William Cody (Mary Margaret) Campbell and John Casey Campbell; two great-granddaughters, Maggie Nicole (Hayden) Garrett and Darla Fay Campbell; a great-great-grandson, Wade Everett Garrett; two step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Billy Joe White. Mrs. Hester spent the majority of her life in Three Rivers, Texas. She and her family owned and operated Hester's Western Wear for 30 + years. This was her happy place. She loved her customers and the many friends that she made while in business. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers, Texas. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Ross, Jim Huff, Lynn Weber, Danny Garcia, Mike Kowry, and Harold McCullough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal rescue facility or charity of choice.
