Virginia Cook Williams, 94, of George West, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. She was born on April 4, 1924, to Frank and Ollie Lyons Burmeister in Pleasanton, Texas. She married Cecil Hollis Williams on August 16, 1947, in Pleasanton. Early in life, Mrs. Williams worked as a 2nd grade teacher for G.W.I.S.D. and later became an aide in the Special Education Department. She was a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church and volunteered at the Grace Armantrout Museum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five sisters.
She is survived by her children, Hollie (Dennis) Kirkland of Glendale, Arizona; Fran (Mark) Hess of Houston, Texas; Kyle (Tisha) Williams of George West, Texas and Ruth (Todd) Sokalzuk of San Francisco, California; grandchildren, Sarah (Tyler) Savoy, Stephanie (Will) Potter, Derek Hess, Kirsten (Russell) Ernst, Brent Butler, Sam Sokalzuk and Maggie Sokalzuk; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Savoy and Kate Savoy.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at St. George Catholic Church with a Rosary recited there that evening at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, May 11, 2018, at St. George Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Gussettville Cemetery.
