W.H. "Bill" Whitenton, 89, of Beeville, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010. Mr. Whitenton was born March 23, 1921, in Berclair to Nora (Adcock) and David Williams Whitenton. He married Marjinel Wharton in Beeville on June 13, 1942, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Hunt Auto Company and Roberts & McKenzie Hardware and retired from Exxon as a gas plant operator after 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed ranching and spending time with his family. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Marjinel Whitenton of Beeville; four sons, Michael (Linda) Whitenton of Denver, Colo., Richard (Thea) Whitenton of Houston, Joe (Karen) Whitenton of Land O'Lakes, Fla., and Patrick (Leigh Ann) Whitenton of Kenedy; a sister, Gladys Jecker of Refugio; eight grandchildren, Diane Kuhnel, Megan Whitenton, Paige Martin, Mallory Whitenton, Morgan Whitenton, Kevin Tramel, Tamara DeConti and Rick Tramel; three great-grandchildren; and other family members. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Galloway & Sons chapel. The funeral service was conducted there Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with Pastor Larry McRorey officiating. Musical selections included "In the Garden," "Amazing Grace" and "Let the Lower Light Be Burning" sung by Jody Sullivan with Lucille Kinkler as organist. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were be Philip, Joe, Mike, Pat and Richard Whitenton and Rusty Zoller. Honorary pallbearers were the First United Methodist Church men.
