William Hardwick

William Lloyd Hardwick, 89, passed away on November 10, 2017. He was born on January 17, 1928, to Henry Lee and Olive (Raeford) Hardwick in San Antonio, Texas. He was a 1946 graduate of the George West High School. In 1951, he received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Hardin Simmons University and in 1958, his law degree from the University of Texas. Mr. Hardwick was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He married Zora Lee Nelson on February 3, 1961, in George West, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2006. He was a local practicing attorney for 50 years and served as the Live Oak County Attorney from 1961 to 1996. He served on the Texas Association of District and County Attorney Association Board of Directors, Little League Board and as the Babe Ruth Baseball State Director. He was a member of Lions Club, George West Cemetery Association and George West Athletic Booster Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Jack Hardwick.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Hardwick Davis of Bay City, Texas; children, Henry Lee Hardwick of George West, Harvey Ross (Julie) Hardwick of George West and Craig Nelson Hardwick of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Megan Hardwick (James) Cooper, Jeffrey William Hardwick, Emily Gaile Hardwick and Christopher William Hardwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Galloway & Sons chapel in George West. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in George West. Interment will follow at George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Cooper, Christopher Hardwick, Jack Hardwick, Jeffrey Hardwick, Ross Hardwick, Eugene Davis and Paul Dirks.
