William R. Morris Jr., 76, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2017. Mr. Morris was born in Beeville on Dec. 23, 1940, to William (Mutt) and Lucille (Underwood) Morris. He married Dorothy Melvin on Sept. 19, 1960, in Kenedy. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served from 1960 to 1964. He was a Baptist, a radio ham operator and was retired from the oilfield industry as a logger and perforator. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and Stephen Morris; and a sister, Betty Carroll. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Morris of Refugio; daughters, Sherrie (William) Zeiss of Austin and Deborah (Danny) Smith of Tuleta; grandchildren, Michele Zeiss and Derrick Zeiss; two great-grandsons; a sister, Ruby (Richard) Easley of Georgia; two brothers, Gerry (Joyce) Morris of Kenedy and Jerry (Ruby) Morris of Pettus; and a brother-in-law, Ross Carroll. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerry Morris, Jerry Morris, Jeremy Morris, Aaron Smith, Danny Smith and Jonathan Hernandez. Honorary pallbearer will be William Zeiss.
