It is with sadness that the family of Wylie Lee “Bucky” Haws Jr. announces his passing on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. He was 67.
Bucky was born February 26, 1955 in Longview, Texas to Wylie Lee “Buck” Haws Sr. and Vera Mae Haws. He was a 1973 graduate of Skidmore-Tynan High School and married his high school sweetheart, Jackie White, on June 22, 1973 in Beeville. He was self-employed as a pipefitter for numerous years and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time and playing dominoes with his family as well as being a taxidermist all the while breeding and raising various stock show animals and dogs for many years. He also loved participating in stock shows and all kinds of competitive sports.
Bucky had a passion for helping the youth of the community and was actively involved with the Bee County Livestock & Homemakers Show. He organized a group, In-Laws and Out-Laws, to assist all Bee County Show exhibitors at the auction. He was a coach for Beeville Little League for several generations of baseball players and had quite a bit of success at both coaching and with stock shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Wylie “Buck” Haws Sr.; two sisters, Linda Jones and Carlyne Northam; and a nephew, Kevin Haws.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jackie (White) Haws; four sons, Jamey Haws, Jody Haws, Josh Haws and Jordan Haws; a brother, Ricky (Valerie) Haws; nine grandchildren, Ariana Haws, Tucker Haws, Lukus Haws, Avery Haws, Joely Haws, Kylee Haws, Jessa Haws, Tanner Haws and Isla Haws; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore with Pastor Tim Stowe officiating.
